RELIANCE ON ALLAH ☝
The place of reliance on Allah in Islam is like the place of the head in the body.” Fellow Muslims!
Reliance on Allaah gives peace of mind and prevents the plots of evil people.
It is one of the greatest means of averting harms and injustices.
It also brings contentedness.
Imaam Ahmad was asked of the meaning of reliance on Allah and he answered, “It is keeping a mind away from longing for what is in people’s hands.”
Reliance on others besides Allaah is humiliation and disgrace. Making requests to the creature means making requests to a poor and needy.
Ibn Taimiyyah said, “No one pins his hopes on a creature or depends on him except that he is disappointed.” Whoever loves something not for the sake of Allaah, it will eventually harm him. Events and experiences indicate this.
Dear bro/sister! Do not let your lack of reliance on men make you disrespect them.
You should not allow that to prevent you from being kind to people and enduring their harm.
You should rather be kind to them for the sake of Allah and not in order to get anything from them. Your lack of hoping for anything from them should not be a result of your being afraid of them.
Fellow Muslims! Sustenance is in the Hands of Allaah. Whatever is yours will come to you regardless of your weakness. No efforts of yours will make you get what is destined for others. No endeavor of a covetous man can bring a provision of Allah to you nor can the aversion of an unwilling person prevent His sustenance. The provision of Allah has been apportioned for the righteous, the sinful, the believer and the disbeliever alike.
Allah says:
“And no moving (living) creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah.” •[Surah Hood:6]
Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah as He should be feared, for whoever fears Allaah prevails and whoever turns away from Him lives a strained life. Brethren in faith!
The happiest of all men is the one who worships Allaah most. The humbler the man becomes and the greater he shows his need for his Creator the closer he comes to Him and the more honourable he becomes in His Eyes and the eyes of all men.
Man cannot depend on himself for benefits and protection. He always needs to seek the help of his Creator.
Seeking the help of Allaah is an obligation of every Muslim and it is a protection against Shaytaan.
It is one of the highest degrees of servitude to Allaah and the surest way to attain His love.
Allaah is Self-Sufficient to whom all creatures turn for their needs. Humans commit many sins and the only way to salvation for them is to seek for Allah’s help and forgiveness.
They commit many great sins with their heart like showing-off, envy and lack of trust in Allaah. Man may unknowingly commit these sins. He might even be avoiding smaller apparent sins and be oblivious of the great ones.
Mere making using of the means might disappoint man in attaining his goals. He might even knock on some doors from which he thinks he can derive benefits that can turn out to be gateways to things harmful to him.
Nothing can save him from all this except his sure reliance on Allaah, the Mighty, the Beneficent. It is on account of the above that Allaah emphasis’s reliance on Him, makes it one of the degrees of Islam and mentions it along with worshipping Him. Allaah says:
And Allah's is the unseen in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is returned the whole of the affair;
So worship Him and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not heedless of what you do.
“•[Surah Hood 11:123]
He makes it the condition for attaining real belief and Allah says:
“And put your trust in Allaah if you are believers indeed.”
•[Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:23]
He makes it the cause of attaining His love and Allah says:
So when you have decided, then place your trust in Allaah; surely Allah loves those who trust.
•[Surah al ‘Imraan:159]
Allaah makes that a quality of the believers by which they are distinguished from others and Allah says:
“The believers are only those who, when Allaah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur’an) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone).” •[Surah Al-Anfaal:2]
Allaah told us that Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام) said:
“There is for you an excellent example (to follow) in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people: “We are clear of you and of whatever you worship besides Allaah. we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred for ever,- unless you believe in Allaah and Him alone”: But not when Abraham said to his father: “I will pray for forgiveness for thee, though I have no power (to get) aught on thy behalf from Allah.” (They prayed): “Our Lord! in You do we trust, and to You do we turn in repentance: to You is (our) Final Goal..”
•[Surah Al-Mumtahanah:4]
And about Prophet Shoayb (عليه السلام) Allaah says:
“And why should we not put our trust in Allaah while He indeed has guided us our ways.”
•[Surah Ibrahim 14:12]
“And my guidance cannot come except from Allah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.”
•[Surah Hood 11:88]
Brethren in faith! Shaytaan has no power over the servants of Allah who put their trust in Him. Allah says:
“Verily! He has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah).”
•[Surah An-Nahl:99]
Putting trust in Allaah prevents His punishment.
Allaah says:
“Say O (Muhammad) “Tell me! If Allah destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us – who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?” Say: “He is the Most Gracious (Allah), in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust.” •[Surah Al-Mulk 67:28-29]
The more a man knows about his Lord, the stronger his reliance on Him and the weaker a man’s belief in his Lord the weaker his reliance on Him.
